Community Change Alliance is committed to building a brighter, more sustainable future through collective community action. By investing in education, environmental stewardship, empowerment, and social enterprise, we inspire children and youth to take active roles in shaping their communities.
The vision began in 2016 when Dr. Ibrahim Dodo revisited his childhood school, once a proud community achievement but now in ruins. Seeing children learning on the floor moved him to act. What started as a small bake sale to restore the school grew into a larger movement—reviving education, rebuilding infrastructure, and reigniting the spirit of community collaboration. The renewed environment has since led to a remarkable rise in school enrollment for both boys and girls.
This effort incorporated community participation. The novel approach to this is by incorporating environmental stewardship and social enterprise. Planting of economic tree in the school as a community and individual student was introduced. The economic gain of this program to individual student and the community has served as a great motivation for taking ownership. This has significantly contributed to reforestation, land regeneration and prevention of erosion which has been a major scourge in the region.
As a result of the positive result from this experience, the model has been extended to many other schools and communities in the state and other adjoining states.
